On this page I'll be sharing information about my preferred development environment and various development tools I use or have sampled in the past.
Just a quick outline now...
Zend Core - I use Zend Core for Windows Server, running on a Windows Server 2007 Virtual Machine. The host machine is a big honkin' Dell server running Linux. I recently upgraded our dev environment to ZendServer Community Edition. Still running on the Windows Server VM.
Zend Studio - I use Zend Studio IDE to write and maintain all my code. There are much more elegant IDEs for Mac (such as Panic's Coda), but none that are as fully feature capable. Zend hacked me off a couple of months ago so I switched to the open-source NetBeans. Now I don't have to pay for the next new edition of my IDE. $300/yr for a Zend Studio maintenance license is outrageous.
phpMyAdmin - This is almost an essential tool anymore. Why would anybody want to write lines and lines of SQL statements to create/edit/delete tables, etc. etc.
The GIMP
Firefox with Firebug plugin
JQuery
Mac OSX Snow Leopard
Panic Transmit FTP/Webdav client
I've recently begun playing around with Zend Framework...not as in building sites with the framework, but using a few of the ZF classes directly in my projects. I'm particularly impressed with Zend_Cache.
