I am a full time web developer working in the research administration enterprise at a large research hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, USA (Work policy forbids me from identifying my employer on a personal blog). Most of my work focuses on database applications that serve my business unit's needs, using web interfaces and MySQL back ends. Though I manage my unit's website, I am not particularly focused on the consumer-side web. I have been in this field full time since 2007 but worked in web development for a year previously as a value-added responsibility to my primary position, and prior to that for several years as a web hobbyist.
My current areas of emphasis are PHP/AJAX user interfaces and writing Object-Oriented PHP classes.
I am not, as a matter of course, available for moonlighting and contract work, though I do juggle a handful of small web projects for friends and such. Feel free to contact me to inquire about my services, however, as each job should be evaluated on its own and I never say “never.”
Code that is shared on this site is free for download and re-use under the GPL license provided that proper credit back to me is given. Although I am cool with my code being included in commercial applications, please do not package and sell my code by itself.
If you're here looking for my personal blog, you're going to be disappointed. I don't "do" social media because I'm still not crazy about putting my life and personal details out on the interweb. First, I suppose it is a sense of modesty...why would perfect strangers really care what I think about X topic or how much fun we had at Y theme park anyway? Second, as a web professional I understand (perhaps better than most?) just how much you're risking by putting your life out there on sites like Facebook, MySpace, twitter etc. I'm contemplating making the jump onto Facebook, but it will probably be limited to my professional expliots as an extension of this site.
Having said all that, I am not the only Chris Renner on the web and not even the only Chris Renner Web Developer on the web.
